Ultrasound-Guided Filler in Atlantic City
Facial filler is placed around arteries that vary from person to person. Surface landmarks describe an average face, not yours. Where it is useful — the tear trough, the temple, the nose, or a face that already has filler in it — Dr. Panah uses high-frequency point-of-care ultrasound to see the vessels and tissue planes before the needle goes in, rather than inferring them from the surface. Ultrasound also shows where previous filler sits, which matters when deciding whether to add to it, dissolve it, or leave it alone. And if a vascular complication ever occurs, ultrasound helps localize it so hyaluronidase can be directed to the right place.
This is done case by case, at the physician's discretion, based on your anatomy and the area being treated. It is a tool that supports anatomic knowledge, not a replacement for it.
When we use it
Ultrasound is most useful in the areas where the vascular anatomy is least predictable and the consequences of getting it wrong are highest — the tear trough, the temple, the nose, the glabella — and in any face that already has filler in it from a previous injector. Dr. Panah decides case by case, at the time of your consultation, based on your anatomy and what you are having treated.
What it shows
When indicated, at the physician's discretion:
- The artery, and how deep it runs in your face specifically
- The tissue plane the filler is going into
- Filler already in place from previous treatment, and where it sits
- In a complication, the location to direct hyaluronidase
What it does not do
Ultrasound does not remove the risk of injecting filler. No technique does. It gives the physician more information than surface landmarks alone, and it is used alongside anatomic knowledge rather than in place of it. Every filler treatment at Salamat carries risk, and we will go through those risks with you before you consent. It is used case by case, at the physician's discretion.
